# Create a work order

> Create a new work order from the web app, with the asset, location, people, dates and priority.

**1. Open work orders**

In the left sidebar, go to **Work Orders** > **Work Orders**.

**2. Start a new work order**

Click **+ Create workorder** in the top right. The **Create Work Order** form opens.

**3. Describe the job**

* **Title** (required): a short name for the job, such as "Pump leak at STP".
* **Description**: what is wrong and anything the technician should know.
* **Photo**, **Files** and **Voice**: attach pictures, documents or a voice note. You can upload several files at once.

**4. Say where the work is**

Choose the **Asset** the job is for, and its **Location**.

**5. Add a checklist or workflow**

Pick a **Checklist** if the technician should follow set steps, and a **Workflow** if this job goes through an approval or process flow.

**6. Assign the work**

* **Users**: the people who will do the job.
* **Teams**: assign a whole team instead of, or as well as, individuals.
* **Monitor Users**: people who should follow the job without doing it, such as a supervisor.

**7. Set the dates**

* **Start Date and Time** (required): when work should begin. Use the shortcuts **Now**, **In 2 hours** or **In 6 hours**, or pick a date and time.
* **Due Date and Time** (required): when it must be done. Use **After 4 hours**, **After 8 hours** or **Tomorrow**, or pick a date and time.

**8. Set priority and category**

* **Priority**: **None**, **Low**, **Medium** or **High**.
* **Category**: pick an existing category, or click **+ New Category** to add one.

**9. Make it repeat (optional)**

Turn on **Repeat Work Order** if this job should happen on a schedule. See [Recurring and upcoming work orders](/recurring-work-orders).

**10. Fill in custom fields**

If your organisation has set up **Custom Fields** for work orders, fill them in at the bottom of the form.

**11. Create**

Click **Create**. The work order appears in the list with the status **Todo**.

> [!TIP]
>
> Closing the form before you click **Create** asks whether to **Discard Changes** or **Keep Editing**, so you will not lose a half-filled form by accident.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Your work order is created in the branch selected at the top of the sidebar. Check you are in the right branch before you start.
