# QR codes

> Put QR codes on assets and around your site so anyone can pull up an asset or report a problem in seconds.

Opmaint gives you two kinds of QR code.

| QR code | Where to get it | What a scan does |
| - | - | - |
| **Asset QR code** | The asset's **...** menu > **QR Code** | Identifies that asset |
| **Request portal QR code** | **Request Portals** > **Share** > **Download QR** | Opens a form to report a problem, no account needed |

## Get an asset's QR code

**1. Open assets**

Go to **Assets** > **Assets**.

**2. Open the asset's menu**

Click the **...** menu at the end of the asset's row.

**3. Show the QR code**

Click **QR Code**, then print it and fix it to the asset.

## Get a request portal QR code

See [Request portals](/request-portals#share-a-portal).

## Rolling out QR codes

**1. Finish your asset register first**

Each asset code points to an asset record, so the asset needs to exist and sit in the right [zone](/locations-and-zones).

**2. Print on durable labels**

Use labels that survive heat, oil, washdowns or sunlight, depending on where they go.

**3. Stick them where people look**

At eye level near the controls or nameplate, not on a back panel nobody sees.

**4. Tell people what it is for**

A short line like "Scan to report a problem" makes floor staff actually use it.
