# Recurring and upcoming work orders

> Set a work order to repeat on a schedule, and see what is coming up.

Routine jobs like inspections, servicing and cleaning should not depend on someone remembering them. Set them to repeat once and Opmaint creates them on schedule.

## Make a work order repeat

**1. Open the form**

Create a new work order with **+ Create workorder**, or edit an existing one. See [Create a work order](/create-a-work-order).

**2. Turn on repeat**

Near the bottom of the form, turn on **Repeat Work Order**. The **Repeat Configuration** section appears.

**3. Choose Periodic or Interval**

**Periodic**

Repeats on a calendar pattern.

1. Choose **Daily**, **Weekly**, **Monthly** or **Yearly**.
2. In **Repeat every**, enter how often, for example every 2 weeks.
3. Set the **Execution Time**, the time of day the work order is created.

**Interval**

Repeats after a fixed gap.

1. In **Every**, enter the number.
2. Choose the unit, such as **Days**.

**4. Save**

Click **Create**, or save your changes if you are editing.

> [!TIP]
>
> Use **Periodic** when the job is tied to the calendar, such as "every Monday" or "on the 1st of each month". Use **Interval** when what matters is the gap between jobs, such as "every 30 days".

## See all recurring work orders

Go to **Work Orders** > **Recurrence**. The **Recurring Work Orders** page lists every repeating work order with how often it **Repeats** and its **Repeat Status**. You can search, filter, sort, choose columns, save views and click **Export Excel**.

## See what is coming up

Go to **Work Orders** > **Upcoming**. Switch between **This Week**, **Next Week**, **This Month** and **Next Month** to see the work orders projected for each period, with their **Projected Date**, **Priority** and **Status**.

Use it to plan manpower and spares before the work is due. Click **Export** to take the list into a spreadsheet.

## Usage-based maintenance

To trigger work from meter readings, such as every 250 running hours, see [Meters](/meters) and [Meter alerts](/meter-alerts).
