# Skip or delete a work order

> Skip a single occurrence of a job, or delete a work order you no longer need.

## Skip or delete?

| | Skip | Delete |
| - | - | - |
| **Use it when** | One occurrence of a job does not need doing, for example the asset was shut down that week | The work order was created by mistake or is a duplicate |
| **What happens** | That work order is skipped | The work order is removed |

If the job was simply finished, do neither: set the status to **Done** so it stays in the asset's history.

## Skip a work order

1. Open the work order.
2. Click the **...** menu in the top right.
3. Click **Skip Work Order**.

## Delete a work order

**From the work order**

1. Open the work order.
2. Click the **...** menu in the top right.
3. Click **Delete**.
4. Confirm when asked.

**From the list**

1. Go to **Work Orders** > **Work Orders**.
2. Click the **...** menu at the end of the work order's row.
3. Click **Delete**.
4. Confirm when asked.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Deleting removes the work order and the record of the job with it. If the work was done, mark it **Done** instead of deleting it, so your maintenance history and reports stay complete.
