# Users and roles

> Add your team to Opmaint, by creating accounts or sending invitations, and give each person the right role.

Everyone who uses Opmaint has a user account with a role. You find users under **Users** in the left sidebar.

## Roles

| Role | Who it is for |
| - | - |
| **Admin** | People who set up and run the account. Admins can view and approve all requests |
| **Full User** | Maintenance staff who create, assign and complete work every day |
| **Limited User** | People who need to work in Opmaint with restricted access |
| **Requester** | People outside the maintenance team who raise requests and follow their status |
| **Store Person** | People who run the spares store |

Click **View permissions PDF** in the user form to see exactly what each role can do.

## Two ways to add a user

| | Create | Invitation |
| - | - | - |
| **How it works** | You set up the account, including the password | The person gets an email with a link to create their own account |
| **Needs** | Phone number | Email address |
| **Best for** | Technicians who may not use email | Office staff and managers |

## Create a user

**1. Start a new user**

Go to **Users** and click **Create**.

**2. Enter their details**

* **First Name** (required) and **Last Name**
* **Designation** and **Employee ID**
* **Country Code** and **Phone Number** (required)
* **Email** (optional)

**3. Choose branch and role**

* **Branch** (required): the branches this user works in. See [Branches](/branches).
* **User Roles** (required): pick one of the roles above.

**4. Set a password**

Enter the **Password** and **Re-enter Password**. Share it with the user securely.

**5. Create**

Click **Create**.

## Invite a user

**1. Start an invitation**

Go to **Users** and click **Invitation**.

**2. Fill in the invite**

Enter the **Email Address** (required), pick the **Role** (required) and choose the **Branches** (required).

**3. Send**

Click **Send Invitation**. The person gets an email with a link to create their account.

Click **Invitations** on the **Users** page to see the invitations you have sent.

## Choosing roles

Start with a small number of admins, usually the maintenance head and whoever owns the account. Give technicians and engineers full user access. Anyone who only needs to report a problem can be a requester, or can use a [request portal](/request-portals) without an account at all.

## More on the Users page

* **Export Excel** downloads your user list.
* **User Performance Report** shows how your team is performing.
* Use search, **+ Add filter**, **Sort**, **Edit Columns** and **Saved views** to find people.

> [!TIP]
>
> When bulk importing users, role values are written as `ADMIN`, `FULL_USER`, `LIMITED_USER` and `REQUESTER`. Store Person users cannot be imported, so create them here instead. Re-importing an existing user replaces that user's details. See [Bulk import](/bulk-import).
