# About work orders

> What a work order is in Opmaint, its statuses, and where to find everything about a job.

A work order is a single maintenance job: fix a leaking pump, replace a filter, inspect a panel. It records what needs doing, on which asset and location, who is doing it, and everything that happened along the way.

You find work orders under **Work Orders** in the left sidebar. It has three pages:

| Page | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Work Orders** | Every work order, with search, filters, sorting and saved views |
| **Upcoming** | Work orders projected for this week, next week, this month and next month |
| **Recurrence** | Work orders set to repeat on a schedule |

## Work order statuses

Every work order has one of four statuses:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Todo** | Created, not started yet |
| **In progress** | Someone is working on it |
| **On hold** | Paused, for example waiting for a part or a contractor |
| **Done** | The work is finished |

## Inside a work order

Open any work order to see its tabs:

| Tab | What it holds |
| - | - |
| **Details** | Title, description, status, priority, category, dates, asset, location and assignees |
| **Activities** | The work order's discussion: messages, photos, videos, voice notes and files from the team |
| **Attachments** | Photos and files added to the work order |
| **Parts Used** | Spare parts issued against this job |
| **Costs** | Cost entries logged against this job |
| **Time Logs** | Time spent on the job |
| **History** | Every change made to the work order |

## Requests from outside maintenance

People outside the maintenance team can report problems as requests, which maintenance then turns into work orders. See [Work requests](/work-requests).
