# About requests

> How problems reported by anyone reach maintenance, get approved, and become work.

A request is a problem reported by someone who is not doing the repair: an operator who hears a noise, a store manager whose AC has stopped, a security guard who spots a leak. Maintenance reviews each request and approves or rejects it.

You find requests under **Requests** in the left sidebar.

## Request stages

The **Requests** page shows every request on a board with four columns:

| Column | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Pending** | New request, needs review |
| **Approved** | Approved and ready for work |
| **Completed** | Closed automatically by Opmaint |
| **Declined** | Rejected |

Each card shows the request's priority, title, description, location and how long ago it came in. Switch between the board and a list with the view buttons next to the search box.

## Requests and work orders

| | Request | Work order |
| - | - | - |
| **Raised by** | Anyone who spots a problem | Maintenance, or a schedule |
| **Purpose** | Report that something is wrong | Plan and record the fix |
| **Next step** | Approved or rejected | Assigned, worked and closed |

Keeping the two separate means maintenance controls its own workload, and nobody outside the team has to know how jobs are planned.
