A meter is anything you read and record over time: running hours on a DG set, temperature in a cold room, kWh on an energy meter, flow on a water meter. You find meters under Meters in the left sidebar.

Create a meter

1

Start a new meter

Click Meters in the sidebar, then + Create New.
2

Choose single or multi-reading

Turn on Multi-reading meter if one physical meter tracks several values, such as temperature, hours and pressure. The unit, limits, due-in and formula then move into a row for each reading type.
3

Name it

Enter the Meter Name (required) and a Meter Description.
4

Choose how readings come in

Meter Type (required): Manual if people enter readings, or Automatic (sensor) if a connected sensor sends them. See Sensors and IoT.
5

Set the unit and limits

  • Measurement Unit (required)
  • Minimum Value and Maximum Value: the normal range.
  • Out of Range Action: what happens when a reading falls outside the range. See Meter alerts.
6

Set when readings are due

  • Reading Due In (required): in Days, Hours and Minutes.
  • Frequency: Anytime (readings can be entered whenever, with no scheduled reading tasks), Periodic or Interval.
7

Say where it is

Choose the Location (required) and Asset (required).
8

Choose who records readings

Pick Responsible Users and Responsible Teams. Only these users, and members of these teams, can access and fill in this meter’s readings.
9

Extra settings

  • Enable Remarks: let people add a note with each reading.
  • Active Status: whether the meter is in use.
  • Arithmetic Formula: adjust each entered value automatically, such as +2 or *3.
  • Precision: how many digits appear after the decimal point.
  • Daily Calculated Readings: turn on automatic daily calculated readings.
10

Create

Click Create.

Export meters and readings

On the Meters page, click Export Excel for the list of meters, or Export Meter Readings for the readings themselves.
Sites with hundreds of energy, flow and water meters can load both the meters and their historical readings through bulk import during onboarding.
